It was announced today that the horror sequel will slash its way into theaters on February 14, 2019, a.k.a. Valentine's Day. Since then, it has earned $55.7 million domestically and $122.7 million worldwide. As the morning goes on, Tree gets the eerie feeling that she's experienced the events of this day before. As Deadline scooped, production got underway in May on the sequel, with lead Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard back along with original director Christopher Landon who also wrote the screenplay this time around.

Tree will be back from the dead, on a constant loop, as she is viciously murdered over and over again in a Groundhog Day like massacre. As for what the sequel is about, details are vague. In Happy Death Day 2U, Tree discovers that dying over and over (on her birthday, no less) was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead.

Landon has reportedly said that the sequel will answer questions about the first installment's endless time loop. I was really pleased to know that we weren't just gonna be pushing all the buttons that people loved the first time, over and over again, 'cause I think that gets old.
