Margot Robbie’s ‘Birds of Prey’ to Open in February 2020

As for casting, little is known other than the fact that Robbie will reprise her role from Suicide Squad.

With Warner Bros. and DC entertainment getting closer to assembling its team for its Harley Quinn pic "Birds of Prey", the studio has dated the film for February 7, 2020.

The Birds of Prey project was initially announced ahead of the release of Suicide Squad in summer 2016, with Warner Bros. developing the film with Robbie's Harley Quinn as the villain and featuring a number of female DC characters, with the likes of Batgirl and the Birds of Prey reportedly also in the mix for the film. Sundance prizewinner Cathy Yan will direct, from a script by Christina Hodson, whose Bumblebee opens this December (and looks great). According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, actresses like Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jurnee Smolett-Bell, and Janelle Monae are in the running to play Black Canary, while Margaret Qualley, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Cristin Milioti are testing for Huntress. As of right now, several films are expected to bow in February 2020 including "Bond 25" which recently moved its date after it had to replace Danny Boyle with Cary Jo Fukunaga as director.

Again: Birds of Prey hits cinemas February 7th, 2020.

The official Birds of Prey baddie will be Gotham City crime lord Black Mask (aka Roman Sionis), who has never been depicted onscreen before - according to The Wrap. As far as we know, it does not have the Joker in it, but at this point in the DC news cycle, we're unsure if WB is even capable of making a movie without that character appearing in some fashion.
