'Star Wars' Slowdown Confirmed by Disney CEO

Thanks to the fact that Solo was the first bona fide flop in one of the most popular entertainment franchises of all time, Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the company has been trying to do "too much, too fast" with the franchise and is going to now tap the brakes a little.

Well, after the notable underperformance of Solo at the summer movie box office, Disney was reportedly mulling over a serious revision of its Star Wars saturation plans.

When questioned about the resulting backlash, Iger said he still supports the choices made be his executives: "I haven't second-guessed their decision". And we are just at the point where we're gonna start making decisions about what comes next after J.J.'s.

Among the projects being developed were an Obi-Wan Kenobi film, a Boba Fett and the galactic bounty hunters movie, and sagas overseen by The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson and another by the Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Iger responded to the statement by saying, "We have to be careful we don't let people drink and then go on Autopia". From there they would skip 2009, but would have Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011, and The Avengers in 2012.

The box-office failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story led to a lot of finger-pointing and blame-gaming about who and what was at fault for the movie's poor performance.

Tiger Woods sends fans into meltdown with astonishing eagle
He then turned it up on the back nine, with birdies at the 12th and 13th holes setting the stage for his final-hole eagle. Woods, who owns two Tour Championship titles and the tournament's scoring record (257), opened his round with a bogey.

Jane Fonda Speaks out on Plastic Surgery: 'I Wish I Was Braver'
But Fonda, who previously launched a workout video empire in her younger years, said she still puts in the work to stay in shape. Fonda has spoken publicly about her plastic surgery in the past, particularly about women using surgery for unhealthy reasons.

Air pollution linked to higher risk of dementia
During that time, almost 2,200 patients - 1.7 per cent of the total - were diagnosed with dementia . He also noted that dementia occurs in people living all over - in urban, suburban and rural areas.

But maybe the most interesting aspect of Iger's comments is what he omits.

That's not to say that Star Wars content is going to be disappearing.

Ever since the Mouse House shelled out just over $4 billion for Lucasfilm and its precious assets, its one-Star-Wars-movie-per-year policy has resulted in The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story releasing in quick succession.

J.J. Abrams is now in the middle of making Star Wars 9 and a slowdown for the mammoth franchise had already been previously reported back when it was revealed that the spin-off films in development had been put on hold. He clearly states, "And the buck stops here on that". In the meantime, you can read the rest of the interview with Bob Iger at The Hollywood Reporter.
