Tesla shares tumble after Elon Musk smokes weed on comedian live webcast

Shares of electric vehicle maker Tesla have fallen more than 6 per cent after company CEO Elon Musk smoked marijuana during a podcast interview and the company's accounting chief left after a month on the job.

Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton resigned after just one month in the job because of discomfort with the attention on the company and pace of work during that time, Tesla said in a filing on Friday.

"I don't think you'd necessarily want to be me", he said.

Toledano, who has been on leave of absence from the company, said she would not be returning to the company.

Silicon Valley billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk faced shareholder backlash and a possible U.S. Air Force investigation on Friday, after he took a drag of what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette during an appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast Thursday night.

Musk raised eyebrows on social media after accepting what Rogan said was a joint of marijuana and tobacco and taking a puff.

The blunt usage began near the end of the interview when Rogan produced it and Musk responded by asking, "I mean, it's legal, right?"

Kim may be set for White House return
She said in a statement in May released by that group, "When I looked at Alice, I said we can't just stop with one person". - Kim Kardashian West is reportedly in Washington , DC to meet with President Donald Trump , TMZ reports .

Musk, seemingly referencing former president Bill Clinton, went to Twitter to say that to say, "remember, I did not inhale". In May, two executives, a VP and a product director departed Tesla's energy unit.

Ever since the bid to go private was abandoned, some investors have remained on edge as Musk continues to draw attention, often through impulsive outbursts on Twitter. Tesla's stock is down more than six percent to $262, the lowest level since April.

Elon Musk has never been a conventional CEO, but his behavior has seemed increasingly erratic in recent weeks. The show took place in California, where recreational marijuana consumption is legal.

Rogan asked Musk about The Boring Company, which Musk said started as a " joke", mostly borne out of his desperation to fix L.A.'s notoriously bad traffic problem.

But in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, Tesla said Morton had given notice of his resignation Tuesday and that it was effective immediately.

His departure comes at a time when Tesla is reeling from a series of incidents that have raised questions about the leadership of Mr. Musk, as the auto maker struggles to meet its production goals and continues to lose money and burn cash. "I don't find that it is very good for productivity". The San Francisco office of the SEC has sent subpoenas to Tesla regarding its privatization plans to determine whether Musk intentionally misled investors.

Earlier this week, he escalated his attacks on Vernon Unsworth, the British cave diver he accused of being a paedophile, calling him a "child rapist" in an email to a Buzzfeed reporter.
