NASCAR Xfinity Series: Brad Keselowski Gets First Darlington Win

Ross Chastain claimed his first-career NASCAR Xfinity Series pole at Darlington Raceway on September 1, 2018, ahead of the Sport Clips Help a Hero 200.

It was also Team Penske's first win in the Xfinity Series at the track "Too Tough to Tame".

Keselowski said Chastain did enough to earn more opportunities.

"So our mindset, I wouldn't think it's any different the last couple of races and especially these next two. It's probably the biggest win of my career". The day concludes with the Xfinity race, which has been won by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regulars in 13 of the past 15 years. As a result, he told FanSided by phone from Darlington that when the team asked him to return (for this weekend and the next race at Indianapolis) it wasn't a hard decision. Denny Hamlin did it last season. But his attitude remains the same for the final two regular-season races.

Chastain led a race-high 90 laps and won the first two stages.

Keselowski got off pit road ahead of Larson on the final pit stops of the Southern 500. It was also his first win at Darlington and his 25th career win.

"I got to give a lot of credit to my pit crew", Keselowski said. "Running second that last stop and they nailed it". During a slump they claim "we're making gains every week.". This year hasn't been great for JJ, but he is coming off a top-10 finish in the last race and I think he can use that as momentum for today. That played to Keselowski's favor after the fast pit stop. Brad Keselowski inched past leader Kyle Larson coming out of the pits with 22 laps left. Keselowski was in second place on final stop. "Unfortunately, we had a loose wheel", he said of Sunday night's first issue. "I was hoping to at least maintain our spot".

"This is my fifth Cup season and I've run second or third a lot, so I guess you get used to it", Larson said with a chuckle. "I'm just glad we came out on top".

Bryson DeChambeau wins Dell Technologies Championship
DeChambeau jumped clear with three consecutive birdies from the seventh hole en route to a four-under-par 67 at TPC Boston in MA . Englishman Justin Rose (70) and Australian Cameron Smith (67) were two shots back on a crowded leaderboard.

Finishing second was Logano, who edged past Larson with 16 laps to go and then finished 1.224 seconds back. Busch already has six wins on the year and 11 other top-5 finishes.

For Chip Ganassi Racing's Larson, who finished third after leading 284 laps, the finish extended his season of disappointment. The California native is yet to win this season but has clinched a spot in the playoffs.

Larson said he was praying for long runs.

"I've enjoyed working with those guys at GMS, so honestly that made my answer really easy", Elliott said. You don't know what is going to happen. "The disappointment, I can handle it better than most people".

Hamlin, the defending race victor finished 10 but clinched a spot in the playoffs along with Aric Almirola. Coverage continues Saturday, with Xfinity Series qualifying at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Overall, he has won three times at Darlington and has nine top-5 finishes out of 19 races. I want to be at the track, I miss being at the track. They [Chastain and Kevin Harvick] had their thing off [Turn] 2, and we were able to pounce on it. "If we can just start minimizing mistakes, my own included, we will be much better off and have a shot".

WEATHER DELAY: Darlington officials twice had to clear the grandstands because of potential severe weather threatening the area. Seats were almost full at the track and teams, drivers have a ball dipping into nostalgia with various throwback paint schemes, wardrobe and honoring legends of the sport. He was not sure when or if he'd speak to Harvick, one of NASCAR's most dominant and fiery personalities. After the penalty, Johnson emerged three laps down.

Larson will get his: Kyle Larson didn't get the win but odds are it will happen soon.
