Messi and Suarez show no mercy as Barca humiliate Huesca

Top-flight debutants Huesca took a shock early lead in their first league visit to the Nou Camp when Colombian forward Cucho Hernandez deflected the ball in from point-blank range but Messi soon dampened the celebrations of the visiting supporters by cannoning a shot in off the post to level in the 16th.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored twice to help Barcelona overcome a surprise early deficit to give Huesca a harsh reality check in an 8-2 thumping on Sunday.

After beating Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup, Barca have taken maximum points from their first two La Liga games, beating Alaves 3-0 and Valladolid 1-0.

Suarez won an injury-time penalty following a foul by keeper Axel Werner and threw the ball to Messi so he could score his third.

The Spanish champions did score their second in the 24th minute, however, when a low Alba cross was turned into the back of his own net by Huesca centre-back Jorge Pulido.

Barcelona had another half-chance in the 35th minute when Messi stood over a free kick outside the Huesca box, but the Argentine sent the ball high of the away side's crossbar.

The hosts pushed for more goals and they were rewarded in the 39th minute as Alba provided yet again, with Luis Suarez profiting from the full-back's cross. VAR checked for a possible offside, but the goal was given.

Despite the setback for Suarez goal, Huesca remained resolute and Alex Gallar pulled one back for the visitors before halftime to make it 3-2.

The misery wasn't over Huesca, with Alba capping off a fine performance to finish off lowly in the bottom corner.

There was no let up from the two sides to start the second stanza and Messi could call himself unlucky after hammering a shot off the crossbar just second after the re-start.

Suarez should have scored an eighth for Barcelona in the final minute when he met an inventive effort from Vidal, but the ball flew wide of the far post.

Barcelona made it eight in the final seconds of the game when Suarez stepped up to beat Werner from the spot.
