8 dead bodies found on streets of Mexican resort city of Cancun

The U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory for Mexico, shortly after eight dead bodies were found in the streets of Cancun.

The taxi where the man and woman were found was parked at a shopping mall, according to Riviera Maya News. The two appeared to have been executed, according to Proceso News, a local media outlet. The prosecutors' office for the state of Quintana Roo says one of the victims was killed while laying in a hammock.

Two of the victims were found in an abandoned taxi, while two others were found dismembered in plastic bags at another location, according to the AP.

Officials did not immediately reveal details about the eighth body.

Exercise increased caution due to crime.

It seems that violence in Cancun, a very popular beach destination for travelers from around the world, has been on the rise.
