Nigerian govt finally decides between Pinnick, Giwa — FIFA ban

World football governing body FIFA had on Tuesday said it would go on to suspend Nigeria from football activities if they failed to comply with its instructions by Monday at noon. And if soon this issue is not resolved it may cost Nigeria its' national soccer team a ban from global competitions, most important of all the African Cup of Nations that will take place next year.

"We expect a positive pronouncement from Federation Internationale de Football Association at the end of the deadline given to us, because we have assured them of our readiness to play by the rules", the source, who pleaded anonymity, said.

The leadership of Amaju Pinnick had been taken to court by aggrieved Chris Giwa, claiming the election that brought the former Delta State FA chairman to the seat was illegal.

Giwa was handed a five-year ban by Federation Internationale de Football Association for breaches of NFF statutes and the Federation Internationale de Football Association code of ethics in February 2017.

Giwa previously appeared to have the backing of the government.

However, on July 23, the Giwa-led board was sacked by men of the DSS following a presidential directive. It issued Nigeria with a final warning on 14 August.

In Abuja, armed security agents were posted outside NFF's offices preventing people from entering.

Nigeria are due to play a qualifier for the 2019 African Nations Cup in the Seychelles on 8 September.
