Red Sox place Sale (shoulder) on DL

For the second time in less than three weeks, Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale is making his way to the disabled list.

The move, retroactive to August 15, marks the second time this month that Sale has been on the DL with inflammation in his throwing shoulder.

But the team returned Sale to the DL less than a week later and recalled Brandon Workman from the minor leagues.

Sale, 29, last pitched on Sunday when he went only five innings and 68 pitches in a 12-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Saudi Arabia tests Japan-inspired 'nap pods' for hajj
It blames the ongoing diplomatic dispute with its Gulf neighbors - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt. A Saudi official said Qatar had blocked several registration links set up for its pilgrims.

Sale has been downright incredible for the Red Sox this season, with a 12-4 record, 1.97 ERA, and 219 strikeouts over just 146 innings, while opponents are hitting just.175 against him this season.

The Red Sox (87-36) hold a 10.5-game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League East heading into Saturday's action.

And though it hasn't been smooth sailing in every outing since the trade, he was a big reason the Rays blanked the Sox 2-0 on Sunday at Fenway Park.
