Slain Colorado Family's Babysitter Speaks Out | Christopher Watts | Shanann Watts | slain family

An autopsy completed Friday afternoon confirms the identity of three bodies found earlier in the week as those of Shanann, Celeste, and Bella Watts. The attorneys requested that DNA swabbing be performed on the girls' necks "in spite of the fact that the remains were in oil for four days". Watts initially said they disappeared, but authorities arrested him Wednesday after they said he confessed to killing his pregnant wife and two daughters. Krista Henery, a spokeswoman for the Weld County District Attorney's Office, said the formal filing of charges is not expected until at least Monday.

Attorneys for Chris Watts indicated in a court filing that the bodies of the children were in an "oil well filled with crude oil for several days".

Richard Eikelenboom, the expert cited by Watts' attorney, also recommended taking DNA samples from the girls' hands and the hands and nails of their mother.

In one of the motions, Merson suggested that time was critical, writing, "The autopsies for this case are scheduled to begin in 20 minutes".

One of the motions, filed by Merson, concerned collecting and preserving DNA evidence, particularly at the family's home, where investigators believe Shanann Watts and her children died, according to reports. Authorities did not immediately respond to messages Friday seeking information about exactly where the families' bodies were found.

In the heartbreaking video, Bella is seen sitting in the back of their vehicle singing a song in praise of her father, "My daddy is a hero, he helps me grow up strong, ' she trills".

Shanann Watts and her daughters appear to have been killed at their house in Frederick, Colorado, a town of about 8,600 people some 30 miles north of Denver, prosecutors have said.

"Had we had any inclination that we thought he was involved at all - no way would I have let him in my house with my wife and kid", said Nick. "She wasn't here. The kids weren't here". The following day, Christopher Watts stood in front of a parade of news cameras and told reporters that his children were his life.

Ms Watts' upbeat Facebook and Instagram posts about her daughters, pregnancy and love for her husband have left family and friends searching for answers following the murders. "Doesn't take a genius to know who was suspect".

Watts was sacked on Wednesday, the same day he was arrested, the company said.

On Aug. 17, Lauren Naumann-a close friend and babysitter of the Watts family-stopped by the Watts' house, lighted a candle at their memorial. "We support each other and unite whether it is in tragedy or joy", said Rusty O'Neal, 42, town trustee, during the vigil. "Given that the investigation is ongoing, please direct all questions to law enforcement".
