Kasey Kahne Semi-Retiring from NASCAR, Grueling Schedule Is Killing Me

Kahne says he is retiring from full-time racing.

Kasey Kahne, who burst onto the scene at the height of NASCAR's popularity as one of several drivers expected to carry the sport in the new century, announced his retirement from full-time NASCAR racing on Thursday. The veteran of more than 800 races in NASCAR's national series and driver for JR Motorsports posted a statement on his website, ElliottSadler.com, on Wednesday announcing his decision. Kahne, from Enumclaw, Washington, made it to NASCAR via sprint vehicle racing and his Kasey Kahne Racing team competes in the World of Outlaws series.

Kahne, 38, broke the news in a statement on Twitter. I'm not sure what the future holds for me, but I know I'm at ease with the decision that I have made. "I need to spend more time doing the things I enjoy and love and that's spending time with (son) Tanner and my sprint vehicle teams".
