Elon Musk plans to build tunnel to Dodger Stadium

Elon Musk's Boring Company wants to build a tunnel to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, a project billed by the company as an effort to reduce the city's traffic and pollution. That number can eventually rise to 2,800 fans, about five percent of the stadium's capacity. The firm has also proposed building a network of tunnels across L.A. for its system of electric-powered "skates" that would whisk passengers to their destination at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. According to the site, the Dugout Loop will feature a single underground tunnel that connects Dodger Stadium to one of three LA neighborhoods: Los Feliz, East Hollywood, or Rampart Village. After that, The Department of Public Works would need to ensure the route is safe, and the company would then have to secure the necessary permits and city council approval.

The Dodgers gave their initial blessing to Musk's underground line, which would have an eastern terminus and station in the Dodger Stadium parking lots.

Neither the Boring Company nor the LA Dodgers immediately responded to requests for comment.

New Zealand bans foreigners from buying homes
New Zealand's parliament on Wednesday passed a law banning many non-resident foreigners from buying existing homes in the country. Resident visa holders who spend at least 183 days a year in New Zealand will be able to purchase homes without obtaining consent.

Musk expects construction on this project would last up to 14 months, though would actually take "likely much less".

The Boring Company also has proposed plans to build a tunnel connecting the downtown areas of Washington and Baltimore, delivering passengers in just 15 minutes, along with a tunnel connecting downtown Chicago with O'Hare International Airport. "Between games and events, Dugout Loop would transport 250,000 people per year", The Boring Company estimates.

The firm said it is also working with several L.A. city agencies and drafting an environmental impact report. The public will get a chance to learn more about the project and weigh in at a meeting to be held at Dodger Stadium on August 28 from 6:15 p.m.to 9 p.m.
