FBI Fires Anti-Trump Texting Agent Peter Strzok

In a move that was characterized as a significant and possibly politically motivated departure from typical agency protocol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has fired agent Peter Strzok over the anti-Trump text messages he sent during the 2016 presidential election.

In one of his text messages, Strzok assured Page they would "stop" Trump from becoming president.

He made headlines when it was revealed he sent text messages to his work colleague and mistress, Lisa Page, vowing to stop President Donald Trump from winning the 2016 election.

Strzok was sacked on Friday by Deputy Director of the FBI David Bowdich, according to his lawyer, who argued that it was politically motivated.

Strzok's lawyer said he was sacked late Friday by FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich. Bowdich "overruled" the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility, which had decided Strzok should face only a demotion and 60-day suspension.

Goelman said the firing was not based "on a fair and independent examination of the facts".

"It was a total fraud on the American public and should be properly redone!" he wrote.

In another message, Trump asked if the special counsel investigation, which took over Strzok's probe, should be ended given Strzok's termination.

"President Obama thought that Crooked Hillary was going to win the election, so when he was informed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Russian Meddling, he said it couldn't happen, was no big deal, & did NOTHING about it", the president tweeted in July.

"It is a total Hoax", Trump said of the Russian Federation investigation. "No Collusion, No Obstruction - I just fight back!" he wrote.

Strzok was escorted from his office in June after the release of Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report that laid out his biased text messages.

The IG ultimately found no evidence that the bias among the several Federal Bureau of Investigation agents impacted prosecutorial decisions in the Clinton email probe. Right?!" Strzok responds: "No.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Strzok on Twitter.

"One suspects that, if you're as creepy as Peter Strzok, it's hard to polish up your resume", said former Republican presidential candidateHerman Cain. In March, Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director, was sacked after the inspector general repeatedly faulted him for misleading investigators.

He handled many important espionage cases including one involving a former Central Intelligence Agency officer suspected of working for China and a group of Russian spies who had been working undercover in the United States.
