Manchester United linked with shock deadline day move for Diego Godin

The Red Devils have been scouring the market for a new defensive addition, but so far have failed to make any progress in their pursuit.

According to reports from Sky Sports, United have made contact with Atletico Madrid for the Uruguayan worldwide. Godin also had a splendid 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation, earlier this summer, where he played a crucial role in Uruguay's run to the quarterfinals.

Godin has been at Madrid since 2010 and has made 350 appearances for the club. The club had two bids rejected for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.

Manchester United have been linked to Diego Godin.

Szabo, 35, reportedly was in NY for the wedding of his stepsister when he made a mistake that cost him his life. Jamill Jones of Kernersville was charged Thursday morning with misdemeanor assault, NBC New York reported.

Godin appears settled in Spain and ESPN suggest the South American is more likely to sign a new contract at the Metropolitano Stadium than to push for a late move to Old Trafford during the closing stages of the window. But Uruguay's signing can be a great news for the fans as he is considered as one of the best defender's in La Liga.

Beyond a few late deals still being announced, teams in the English top flight are finished putting their teams together for the new season.

With so much business being done since the end of last season, it has been tough to keep track of who has gone where.

Meanwhile, one-time United target Mina appears to be on his way to the Premier League on deadline day, with Everton close to finalising a deal to sign the Colombian centre-back.
