Jose Mourinho admits Manchester United are set to make NO new signings

Manchester United are trying to sign Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham.

The Red Devils have been linked with a potential swoop to sign the Bayern Munich defender in the summer transfer window.

Belgium global Alderweireld appears to have emerged as the favoured choice of Jose Mourinho, with Goal revealing that a compromise has been reached with Spurs over a fee, and that decision is supported by Ferdinand.

The former United defender told the Mirror: "Harry Maguire did great at the World Cup, but of the players potentially available he would not be my first choice".

"Do I think he will still be manager of Manchester United this time next year?"

"From what I hearing from the Everton end, they are concerned they won't get the player in the end because of Manchester United's interest, because of Lyon's interest".

"When I listen, when I read, not much but sometimes I do, it is hard to believe that we finished second, because you are capable of making people that finish second look like they were relegated, and people who win nothing, finish below us, and you make them look like serial winners". And I want to see them win the title, but I fear it's going to be very hard for that to happen this season.

Hamas pounds southern Israel with 70 rockets, IDF strikes back

"I wouldn't write him off".

With all the factors going against them, Manchester United have had to bring their pursuit of Boateng to a grinding halt.

Asked whether he he believed there would be any movement in or out of Old Trafford on deadline day, Mourinho replied: "The information I have is no". "It's the manager who sets the tone, and he's got a few big issues to address".

Mourinho claimed last weekend that United face "a hard season" if they can't add at least one player after asking Old Trafford chief Ed Woodward for two new signings.

Ferdinand also sympathised with the Manchester United youth players after Mourinho's scathing comments following their 4-1 pre-season defeat to Liverpool during their tour of America.

"The talent at Mourinho's disposal is undeniable".

"We lost Riyad Mahrez, who was a very good player for us".
