Radio telescope picks up new frequency in space ZlotoNews

Astronomers claim to have discovered a new fast radio burst (FRB) from outer space at the lowest frequency to date. Most often, the telescopes don't hear anything unusual, but sometimes some unexplained signal breaks through the noise, and this is what happened the 25th of July.

If that's not odd enough, this particular fast radio burst is incredibly low, in the 580 megahertz frequency range - almost 200 MHz lower than any other fast radio burst we've picked up on before. Fast radio bursts are not uncommon, but are considered special because no one knows what their sources are. These extreme objects are likely located well beyond Milky Way.

According to a report in The Astronomer's Telegram, on the morning of 25 July 2018, an array of radio telescopes in British Columbia, Canada, detected a very odd FRB.

The £12.2 CHIME million telescope sits in the mountains of British Colombia's Okanagan Valley, at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory.

Jennifer Aniston celebrates end of Miss America swimsuit competition
There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they're deemed damaged goods. With reboot fever sweeping the networks, the one that we are holding out hope for is Friends .

One of the signals we've detected has repeated, sending out multiple FRBs from the same location, and this has allowed us to pinpoint where in the Universe it's coming from (spoiler: not our galaxy).

"The fact the lower frequency FRB has been detected provides hope that we can understand more about where they come from and what causes them".

"Additional FRBs have been found since FRB 180725A and some have flux at frequencies as low as 400 MHz". It was incredible how much energy is required to ensure that the radio signal could be done this way. "These events have occurred during both the day and night and their arrival times are not correlated with known on-site activities or other known sources of terrestrial RFI".
