Kenny Perry Wins the Final 3M Championship

Kenny Perry created more drama than he wanted Sunday in the last 3M Championship. Perry has owned TPC Twin Cities during his Champions Tour career, winning three times to go with a second-, a third- and two seventh-place finishes.

Perry leads the tour in driving distance at just over 300 yards - 24 yards above the tour average - and with wide fairways, Perry need not hold back, leading to shorter irons into greens that received almost three-quarters of an inch of rain overnight. "But I do know the greens, I understand them, I love putting these greens. but I'll be back there hitting long irons and those kids will be hitting wedges, so it's going to be hard to beat them".

His two-round score of 126 is a tournament record.

"I'm really blown away by my round today".

"This course fits me to a "T" " Perry said.

Perry's not done at the course where he finished in the top seven in all but one of his eight appearances, saying he'll participate in the 2019 3M Open.

Also the 2014 and 2015 victor at TPC Twin Cities, the 57-year-old Perry matched Hale Irwin's tournament record of three victories in the final edition of the event that started in 1993 at Bunker Hills. Perry underwent shoulder surgery last November. Perry said tournament director Hollis Cavner mentioned that the event may give Minnesota native Tom Lehman an exemption into next year's 3M Open.

"I'm going to have to shoot probably better than 65 and he's going to have an off day. If he makes some putts and gets off to a good start, I don't think anybody can catch him", Day said. Perry won his 10th senior title and first since the 2017 U.S. Senior Open.

Back-to-back bogeys on Nos.

"I hit every shot in the book today", Perry said after listing off his errant shots throughout the round.
