Trump Calls on Jeff Sessions to Stop the Mueller Probe ‘Right Now’

"This is a awful situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further".

The Republican president, who has long complained about the criminal probe into his White House victory, said the idea that his campaign worked with Moscow was a "TOTAL HOAX" in a series of tweets aimed at undermining the integrity of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Trump took to twitter in one of his strongest attacks against the federal probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, saying: "This is a bad situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further".

Donald Trump has held a rally in Tampa, Florida, where he campaigned for several Republican candidates running in the upcoming midterms.

"We have been saying for months that it is time to bring this inquiry to an end".

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), a moderate from ME, was one of the few GOP senators who expressed criticism of the president, calling his tweet "entirely inappropriate and intemperate".

"Those comments are totally inappropriate", she added. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) told reporters about Trump's tweet. "Mueller has an interest in creating the illusion of objectivity around his investigation". She said he wasn't talking about himself when he made the comment because Trump doesn't drink alcohol.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said in his own tweet that "this is an attempt to obstruct justice hiding in plain sight. America must never accept it".

In fact, sources who have reviewed the evidence now think it is "all but inevitable" that Mueller will deliver a report to the United States Department of Justice that will make a case that the president broke the law.

USA court bans release of blueprints for 3D-printed guns
But in the past three days, more than 2,500 people have downloaded Wilson's blueprints for 3D-printed AR-15 style assault rifles. In a message on the website, Defense Distributed made a public appeal for financial support "to uncensor the site".

"I've said all along I see no evidence of collusion". "It would send a message to Mr Mueller that he has strong support in Congress". Mueller should be allowed to do his job, Ryan said this spring.

Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, faces 18 counts of bank and tax fraud charges.

The White House sought to downplay Trump's call for shuttering the Russian Federation probe, however, saying that the president had been speaking in a personal capacity and not as the chief executive. The president denied the claim in a tweet.

Mueller - a respected former Federal Bureau of Investigation director - is investigating whether Moscow tried to sway the 2016 presidential election and whether the Trump campaign aided or abetted Russian Federation, or tried to cover up the conspiracy.

His lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said later that the commander-in-chief was merely expressing his opinion - not actually calling for the probe to end.

Trump said last summer he would have chosen a different attorney general had he known Sessions would recuse himself from supervising the investigation of election interference. Trump has periodically launched barrages of public attacks on Sessions related to the special counsel's investigation.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that the Mueller and Trump teams are in a standoff about the president sitting down with investigators, after the special counsel offered to limit the questions it would ask Trump.

This was Trump's most direct demand yet that Sessions, who infuriated the president by recusing himself from the investigation, intervene to end the probe.
