Chelsea's incredibly short send off to Antonio Conte

Former Chelsea club captain John Terry has paid a fitting tribute to Antonio Conte, who was sacked as manager of the club on Thursday in a decision that was highly expected from ardent fans of the club.

Conte delivered trophies in his two years at Chelsea but also brought controversy.

The former Napoli coach signed the deal to take over from Antonio Conte following a two-and-a-half hour meeting with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.

Chelsea have officially announced the departure of Antonio Conte from the Premier League club. The Italian global was thought at one stage to be heading to Manchester City, but Sarri and Chelsea have managed to convince him to forego a season of Champions League football and move to West London instead.

"Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company", the statement read. Terry took to social platform Instagram to post a picture of himself and Conte together with the Premier League title and captioned it with the words: "Thank You Boss. I wish you every success in the future".

As he was still in the final year of a three-season contract, Conte is due a £9m payoff which the club will contest.

Sarri's future has been up in the air since Napoli hired Carlo Ancelotti as their new coach in May.

Chelsea FC will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season after their disappointing campaign last term.

Understandably, the former Juventus boss did not want to miss out on his £9m Chelsea payoff and returned for pre-season training this week.

At times during the Sarri reign, Napoli played an nearly mesmeric style of football which was just about the most attractive in Europe.
