IHOP acknowledges it faked IHOb name change to promote burgers

"IHOb" is "IHOP" once more.

IHOP says it lied about changing its name so the chain could promote its new line of burgers.

IHOP's Twitter bio now reads: "If at first you don't pancake. pancake, pancake again".

The pancake giant is offering short stacks for 60 cents on July 17, 2018 from 7am to 7pm nationwide.

IHOP announced on Facebook that its name change was a hoax to promote new burgers, according to KATU-2.

Moscow's Nikolskaya Street was full of people chanting, dancing, and hugging into the morning. They are still great guys for us, they are heroes", said Peskov.

Many guessed the restaurant would be embracing "breakfast", "bacon", or "brunch", and were shocked when they found out the name change was for burgers.

Even competitors piled on their commentary.

IHOP's promotion appeared to work as far as people talking about the imagined change.

Pancakes and burgers coexist in harmony. In an announcement on Monday, IHOP called its thoroughly underwhelming marketing stunt "the time we faked it". Business Insider reports that, according to YouGov BrandIndex data, prior to the IHOb change, 19 percent of adults in the United States said they had talked about the chain in the previous two weeks. "So, we went bold with the campaign".

'Oh c'mon, ' IHOP wrote, 'It was just a little brank!'
