The wreckage of a fatal crash outside of Tisdale, Sask., is seen Saturday, April, 7, 2018.

Sixteen people, including 13 members of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team, died on April 6 when their team bus was hit broadside by a semi-tractor trailer at an intersection near Armley.

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the driver of the semi, faces 29 criminal charges. The driver of the truck was not hurt, authorities said.

"We've also used 3-D technology to capture evidence through unmanned aerial vehicles".

RCMP say they will not release any details of the investigation or what they believe happened. Police said the uninjured truck driver was initially detained but later released and provided with mental health assistance.

Risky driving causing death carries a sentence of up to 14 years in Canada. Most of those killed were between 16 and 20 years old.

Sukhmander Singh, Sidhu's former employer and owner of Adesh Deol Trucking Ltd., declined to comment on Sighu's arrest or the charges.

Tom Straschnitzki, whose son Ryan was paralyzed from the chest down, said he's relieved charges were laid. "There's going to be a lot of milestones that are just going to be really hard for them".

On top of the collision reenactment in April, investigators have conducted 60 interviews, studied 6,000 photographs and analyzed all available documents, including Sidhu's driver log book.

In the days following the crash, a GoFundMe page raised over $16.5 million for the families affected by the tragedy.
