What's New: Android P Developer Preview 4 (Beta 3)

According to the program overview, this is indeed a release candidate. However, at I/O 2018, Google explicitly noted that these management features are coming "this fall".

Google still hasn't announced what the name of Android P will be, and it seems likely that the company will unveil it soon.

Of course, that doesn't mean end users hoping to get an early taste of the upcoming version won't be jumping on the new beta, too. This imposes daily usage limits with Android providing "Nudges" when close to meeting the restriction.

This update was supposed to take place at an indiscriminate point just before July, but we're now on the second day of the seventh month.

Other features like Wind Down integrate with Google Assistant to enable the Night Light, Do Not Disturb, and gradually fade your device's screen to grayscale.

The Android Developer Preview is available for Pixel and Pixel 2 phones, once enrolled in the Developer Preview Beta Channel which you can do by going here.

Google has already finalized the new APIs for Android P, so developers can start building apps for Android P and even test them through Google Play.

The update is available today for developers with access to a Pixel device. However, with this latest version of the Android P beta, you can manually toggle the dark or light setup no matter what wallpaper you have.

The update is going out from today to Pixel devices as the third installment to the public beta schedule.
