As a result, over 800,000 users were subjected to at least one of the person on their blocked list being temporarily unblocked.

Facebook says the bug is now fixed, all previously blocked users are now blocked again, and those affected will be hearing from Facebook with an encouragement to check their block list.

It was active between between 29 May and 5 June and applied to both core Facebook and its Messenger app.

The incident, following so closely on the heels of another similar settings glitch plus larger data and privacy issues, is as good a reminder as any of why most people have gotten more acclimated to Instagram as a Facebook alternative.
