The Blues came out ready to roll against the Stars for Game 7 and the final score sheet certainly showed it. Three St. Louis goals in the first period from Robby Fabbri (Troy Brouwer, Paul Stastny), Paul Stastny (Troy Brouwer, Robby Fabbri), and Patrik Berglund (Jori Lehtera, David Backes) forced Dallas Stars coach Lindy Ruff’s hand to pull Kari Lehtonen and put in Antti Niemi to start the second period. The second frame was more of the same with Dallas outshooting St. Louis, but the Blues were the only ones to capitalize, scoring twice more with goals from captain David Backes (Patrik Berglund, Colton Parayko) and Troy Brouwer (Robby Fabbri, Paul Stastny).
Dallas tried their best to rally with a goal from Patrick Eaves (Alex Goligoski, Johnny Oduya) early in the third and continued to battle hard for more chances at St. Louis’ net. With around seven minutes left, Dallas pulled goalie Antti Niemi in a last ditch effort for an extra attacker, but St. Louis capitalized on the empty net with Vladimir Tarasenko (Jaden Schwartz, Kevin Shattenkirk) scoring to seal the 6-1 deal. Blues captain David Backes, Patrik Berglund, Troy Brouwer, Robby Fabbri, and Paul Stastny all combined for a total of 13 points and goalie Brian Elliott made 31 of 32 saves.
St. Louis moves on to the Western Conference Final round with Game 1 on May 15.
