Game two was fast-paced from the start, with the Dallas Stars breaking the ice first on a goal by Alex Goligoski from Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin just over three minutes in, but St. Louis was ready to battle. Less than a minute later, the Blues answered back with a goal of their own scored by Patrik Berglund from Robby Fabbri and David Backes. St. Louis kept their momentum throughout the rest of the period, scoring two more goals from Joel Edmundson (Troy Brouwer, Scottie Upshall) and Troy Brouwer (Kevin Shattenkirk, Robby Fabbri) before the horn sounded.
After a fairly uneventful but tense second period, Dallas rallied in the third, kept St. Louis at bay, and got two more goals to tie it up 3-3, scored by Mattias Janmark (Cody Eakin, Colton Sceviour) and captain Jamie Benn (Cody Eakin, Kris Russell). Overtime started with Dallas’ John Klingberg making a trip to the box, but it was ultimately Antoine Roussel’s interference penalty just over nine minutes later that put St. Louis on the power play where captain David Backes (Alexander Steen, Kevin Shattenkirk) scored to win it for the Blues, 4-3.
