Like all other Boston champion teams, the Boston Pride had their day in the sun, quite literally. The city and the mayor honored the first Isobel Cup champions at an outdoor rally on a warm and sunny Friday afternoon.

Mayor Marty Walsh, head coach Bobby Jay, Denna Laing and Marissa Gedman all spoke to the crowd gathered in front of Faneul Hall. The mayor declared April 22 as “Boston Pride Day” in Boston and congratulated the team for being the second Boston team to win a championship while he has been mayor. Laing thanked everyone for their support, then introduced Gedman, who she called her best friend.

Watch Laing speaking below.
