Waiver Wire Adds
Most teams have played 20 or more games by now and fantasy stars are starting to emerge. It may also be time to give up on that risk you picked at the end of the draft. Below is a list of players you want to target on the waiver wire. As usual, all players are owned in less than 50% of ESPN standard fantasy leagues.
Cody McLeod is a prime example of specializing in categories and should have been mentioned among the leaders in penalty minutes last week. McLeod leads the league in penalty minutes with 64 in only 21 games and nearly had a Gordie Howe hat trick on Monday before his assist on the empty netter was taken away. He is owned in only 6.5% of ESPN standard leagues this year and should be available on your waiver wire.
Tyler Bozak has been on fire this season with four goals and ten assists in just 16 games, including ten points in his last ten games. Yet, he is owned in only 38.9% of standard leagues. Pick him up off the waiver wire!
Jannik Hansen was recently moved up to the top line with the Sedin twins and it has paid off big time. Since the move, Hansen has six goals and 13 points in only 22 games. Additionally, he was just moved to the top power play line which should benefit fantasy owners as well.
The Minnesota Wild center has two multi-point games in his last three contests and 11 points in 19 games overall. Granlund is owned in 47.2% leagues so you better act now while he is still available on the waiver wire.
Teddy Purcell is flying under the radar despite playing alongside Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl. He has seven points and two multi-point efforts in his last seven games. Grab him now before he gets snatched up.
The Kings defenseman has three points in his last four games and has been playing much better after his slow start. He also has a plus-5 rating and 12 penalty minutes this year and can provide in multiple categories.
Oscar Klefbom has six points in his last eight games and is looking like a future star for the Oilers. With 11 points in 21 games on the year, his development is progressing nicely. He is one of the hottest adds right now so pick him up if he is available on the waiver wire.
Ryan Murray is a must-own player in keeper leagues and worth a look in redraft fantasy leagues. The Blue Jackets have suffered some injuries to their back end and Murray has had to step up. He has responded in a big way with an assist and plus-4 rating on Friday. Look for Murray’s stats to rise with the increase in playing time.
Finding goalies on the waiver wire can be very tricky as most regular starters are already owned. Linus Ullmark is a possible option if you need help. The Sabres goaltender will continue to receive the majority of the starts in Buffalo while Robin Lehner is out. He has a 2.28 GAA and .925 save percentage in nine starts this year.
Karri Ramo has had his struggles, but could be an option if you are in dire need of starts. Ramo has started 11 consecutive games and had played better lately before last night’s game against Anaheim. Before last night’s game, he had allowed only three goals on 39 shots while winning his last two starts against the Devils and Blackhawks. He is most likely available on the waiver wire and worth an add in a pinch.
